Mon Nov 04 14:35:56 UTC 2024: ## Bollywood Actress Helena Luka Passes Away in the US
**New York, USA:** Veteran Bollywood actress Helena Luka, known for her roles in films like “Mard” (1985) and “Do Gulaab” (1983), passed away on Sunday in the United States. The news was confirmed by dancer and actress Kalpana Iyer on social media.
The cause of death is yet to be disclosed.
Luka, who was married to Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty for a brief period, was best known for her role in the 1985 blockbuster “Mard” starring Amitabh Bachchan. She also featured in films like “Ao Pyar Karen” (1983) and “Saath Saath” (1982).
Luka’s marriage to Mithun Chakraborty was short-lived, lasting only four months. In a previous interview, Luka described her marriage as a “blurry dream” and said she wished it had never happened. She accused Mithun of brainwashing her into believing that he was the only man for her.
In a revealing interview with Stardust magazine, Luka spoke about the failed relationship, stating, “I just wish it had never happened. He brainwashed me into believing that he was the only man for me. Sadly, he succeeded.” She also dismissed rumors of a reconciliation, saying, “I will never go back to him, even if he were the richest man alive. I didn’t even ask for alimony. It was just a bad dream that is over now.”
Reports suggest that Mithun had promised Luka’s father that he would treat his daughter like the “ninth wonder of the world.” However, he allegedly neglected her, leaving her alone. In the interview, Luka said, “I truly believed him when he said he loved me. But when I started to know him better, I realized he didn’t love anyone but himself. He was so immature, and I was so much younger than him, yet I felt older.”
Luka’s last Facebook post, posted on Sunday morning at 9:20 am, was a cryptic message that hinted at a state of confusion and mixed emotions. She wrote, “It feels strange. Very mixed emotions, and I don’t know why… I feel very confused.”
Helena Luka leaves behind a legacy of a brief but memorable career in Bollywood.
