A wave of polls, commissioned by right-leaning groups, are showing Donald Trump winning the 2024 presidential election, despite the majority of polls indicating a tight race. While these polls have had little impact on overall averages, experts argue their true purpose is to build a narrative of Republican strength and lay the groundwork for accusations of election rigging if Trump loses.

These partisan polls aim to boost Republican enthusiasm and create a perception of inevitable victory, experts say. If Trump does not win, these polls could be used as evidence of election fraud.

“Republicans are clearly strategically putting polling into the information environment to try to create perceptions that Trump is stronger,” stated Joshua Dyck, Director of the Center for Public Opinion at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. “Their incentive is not necessarily to get the answer right.”

This strategy is further reinforced by political betting markets, which also suggest a Republican landslide. The narrative of an unstoppable Trump, experts believe, could create a dangerous scenario where a loss is seen as illegitimate and triggers further instability and unrest.
