Sun Nov 03 05:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Kohli’s Run Out Sparks Concerns for India’s WTC Hopes

**Mumbai, India:** Former Indian batsman Mohammed Kaif has expressed his disappointment over Virat Kohli’s unnecessary run out on Day 1 of the Mumbai Test against New Zealand, highlighting the crucial nature of the dismissal in India’s quest for a World Test Championship (WTC) final berth.

Kohli, who had started his innings promisingly, was caught short of his crease by a sharp direct hit from Matt Henry, departing for a disappointing score at a crucial juncture of the match. This came after he was clean bowled by a full toss in the previous Test, raising concerns about his form and decision-making.

Kaif, taking to social media, stated, “Virat Kohli in this series has been clean bowled to a full toss and now this error of judgment to be run out. This needs to change if India needs to reach the WTC final.”

India, currently sitting precariously in the WTC points table, faces a tough task in securing a place in the final. They require a win in four of their remaining six Tests, including the current match in Mumbai.

With Australia and South Africa poised to overtake India in the standings, the pressure is mounting on captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to deliver their best. Any further missteps could severely hinder India’s chances of competing for the coveted WTC title.
