Sun Nov 03 11:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Hurricane Kristy Strengthens in Pacific, Expected to Weaken by Friday

**SAN DIEGO, CA (October 25, 2023)** – Hurricane Kristy, currently a Category 4 storm in the Pacific Ocean, is expected to continue strengthening in the next day or two before gradually weakening by Friday. The storm is currently located about 710 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja, California.

Kristy’s maximum sustained winds are currently near 155 mph with higher gusts. While the storm is projected to move over open waters, swells generated by Kristy are expected to impact the west coast of the Baja California peninsula later this week. These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) predicts that Kristy will move west for the next day or two before turning towards the west-northwest and northwest by Friday.

While the NHC’s forecast track shows the most likely path of the storm’s center, it’s important to note that the storm’s full width and impacts are not illustrated. The center of the storm could also travel outside the cone up to 33% of the time.

This information is based on the top four or five highest-performing models used by the NHC to make its forecasts.
