Sun Nov 03 10:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Green Country Braces for Major Flooding as 3-Day Rain Event Looms

TULSA, OKLA – After one of the driest September and October periods on record, Green Country is facing a major flooding threat as a three-day rain event is forecast to begin late Saturday and last through Monday.

The National Weather Service predicts several rounds of showers and thunderstorms, bringing at least a few inches of rain to the region, with some areas potentially seeing over 10 inches.

The rain is expected to begin in western Green Country late Saturday afternoon and spread eastward throughout the evening. To account for the weather, both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University have moved their home games to earlier times. While OU is expected to be largely unaffected, OSU could experience wet and stormy conditions in the second half of their game and definitely for post-game activities.

Sunday morning is expected to be stormy, with multiple rounds of rain continuing into Sunday night.

The National Weather Service is urging residents to stay weather aware and be prepared for potential flooding. Drivers are advised to never attempt to drive through flooded roads, as more than half of all flash flood deaths occur in vehicles. Residents in flood-prone areas should be ready to move to higher ground if necessary.

The agency also recommends clearing gutters and storm drains of leaves and debris to prevent blockages. As always, when thunder roars, get indoors.
