Sun Nov 03 12:04:40 UTC 2024: ## Grenade Blast Rocks Srinagar’s Sunday Market, 12 Injured

**Srinagar:** A grenade blast rocked Srinagar’s Sunday Market near the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) on Sunday, injuring at least 12 people. The incident triggered a security lockdown in the area as authorities launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators. The number of injured could rise.

This marks the second terror attack in Srinagar in two days. On November 2nd, a gunfight erupted in the Khanyaar area between security forces and terrorists hiding in a house. During the encounter, which involved the use of explosives to eliminate the terrorists, one Pakistani militant was killed. Four security personnel were also injured in the operation.

On Saturday, security forces in Anantnag neutralized two terrorists, identified as Jaahid Rashid and Arbaaz Ahmed Mir, both reportedly trained in Pakistan.

**CM Abdullah condemns attack:** Reacting to the Sunday market blast, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the attack, calling it “extremely disturbing.” He asserted that targeting innocent civilians is unjustified and called for urgent action to curb such attacks.

**NC Chief seeks probe into terror incidents:** National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah raised concerns over the recent spike in terror activities, particularly in the run-up to the formation of the Jammu and Kashmir government. He questioned the motives behind the attacks and advocated for the apprehension of the terrorists instead of eliminating them to uncover any possible sinister plots.

**Target Killings fueled by Pakistan:** Intelligence agencies have attributed the recent wave of targeted killings in the valley to Pakistan’s efforts to destabilize the region. The objective is believed to be disrupting the resettlement plans for Kashmiri Pandits following the abrogation of Article 370. These attacks have targeted Kashmiri Pandits, migrant workers, and even local Muslims perceived as pro-India.

**Security forces on high alert:** In light of these escalating terror incidents, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are on high alert to prevent further attacks.
