**New Delhi, November 3, 2023** – Rohit Bal, one of India’s most celebrated fashion designers, passed away on Friday after suffering a heart attack. He was 63. Bal, affectionately known as “Gudda,” was cremated on Saturday at the Lodhi Road Crematorium in New Delhi.

A large crowd gathered to pay their last respects to the designer, whose flamboyant and rich designs had made him a household name. Among those present were fellow fashion designers Rohit Gandhi and Varun Bahl, actor and model Arjun Rampal, and former Union Minister Smriti Irani.

Bal, who hailed from Kashmir, was known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities. His designs were worn by top Bollywood celebrities and international stars such as Pamela Anderson, Uma Thurman, Cindy Crawford, and Naomi Campbell.

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), of which Bal was a founding member, mourned his loss, calling him a “legendary designer” whose work “redefined Indian fashion and inspired generations.”

A prayer meeting in memory of Rohit Bal will be held on Monday, November 4, at 4 pm at Sai International Centre in New Delhi.
