Sat Nov 02 07:09:01 UTC 2024: ## Congress-BJP War of Words Escalates as Kharge Attacks Modi’s “Fake Promises”

**New Delhi:** The political feud between the Congress and the BJP has intensified with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making “false promises” and the BJP retaliating with a scathing attack on the Congress’s “character.”

Kharge, in a recent tweet, claimed that Modi’s government is characterized by “lies, deceit, loot, and propaganda,” labeling the Prime Minister’s 100-day plan as a “cheap PR stunt.” He further alleged that all the government’s promises have proven to be hollow, raising concerns about economic development, infrastructure, unemployment, social discrimination, and lack of justice for the poor and marginalized.

This follows Kharge’s previous accusation of the BJP manipulating elections, targeting Modi for winning through “fraud.” He further criticized the BJP for its unrealistic promises, urging them to “promise only what can be fulfilled.”

The BJP has seized upon these statements, with party leader Ravishankar Prasad questioning whether Kharge has conveyed these realizations to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

In response to Kharge’s criticism of the government’s financial feasibility, Prime Minister Modi, on Friday, pointed out the Congress’s “exposed hypocrisy” and stated that it is easy to make false promises but difficult to implement them.

The BJP MP from Delhi, Praveen Khandelwal, defended Modi’s record, highlighting the transformation of India’s image during his tenure since 2014. He dismissed Kharge’s criticism as “lies” and emphasized that the country has come to understand the Congress party’s true nature.

The exchange of barbs between the two parties is likely to continue ahead of the upcoming elections. This escalating political battle underscores the rising tension between the two major parties as the campaign season approaches.
