Sat Nov 02 10:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Blundell Takes Two Face Shots as India Dominate Day 1 in Mumbai
Mumbai, India – New Zealand wicketkeeper Tom Blundell endured a painful start to the third and final Test against India at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. Blundell was struck twice in the face by the ball within the first 12 overs of India’s first innings, prompting a medical check for concussion.
The first blow came off a delivery from Gill, which ricocheted off the bat and into Blundell’s helmet grill. The second followed shortly after, leaving him visibly frustrated. Despite the impact, Blundell was cleared by the medical staff and continued to play.
Despite Blundell’s unfortunate experience, India dominated the day, bowling out New Zealand for a paltry 235 runs. Jadeja took a five-wicket haul for the second time in the series, finishing with figures of 5/65, while Sundar chipped in with 4/81.
The series, already won by India, has taken on added significance with the World Test Championship standings at stake. India are looking to secure a victory and maintain their position at the top of the table.
While the hosts have rested their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj returned to the playing XI in the Mumbai Test.
