**Mumbai, India:** The Indian stock market witnessed a strong surge in Muhurat Trading on Friday, the traditional pre-Diwali trading session, with investors making substantial gains. The benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, ended the one-hour session firmly in the green, registering gains of 0.42% and 0.41% respectively. This led to an impressive ₹3.39 lakh crore increase in investor wealth.

**Sectoral Indices Surge:** All sectoral indices closed in the positive territory during the session, with strong buying seen in the automobile, public sector enterprises, consumer durables, and oil & gas sectors. The broader market also witnessed positive sentiment, with the BSE Midcap index gaining 0.69% and the Smallcap index rising by 1.16%.

**Market Capitalization Up:** The market capitalization of BSE-listed companies increased to ₹448.10 lakh crore (provisional), compared to ₹444.71 lakh crore on Thursday, signifying a gain of over ₹3 lakh crore for investors.

**Active Trading:** A total of 3,648 stocks were actively traded on the BSE, with 3,036 closing higher and 542 ending lower. On the NSE, 2,476 stocks were traded, with 2,106 closing in the green and 370 ending in the red.

**Top Gainers and Losers:** Mahindra & Mahindra, ONGC, Bharat Electronics, Adani Ports, and Eicher Motors were among the top gainers, with gains ranging from 1.20% to 3.27%. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Britannia, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and Grasim Industries were the top losers, with declines ranging from 0.11% to 1.15%.

The Muhurat Trading session marked a positive start to the Diwali festivities, with the stock market exhibiting strong bullish sentiment. The gains suggest a positive outlook for the market in the coming days.
