**Jammu, November 1, 2024:** Devender Singh Rana, a prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and recently elected MLA from Nagrota, passed away on Thursday night at a private hospital in Faridabad, Haryana. He was 59.
Rana, who had been unwell for some time, is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son. His brother, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, described his passing as an “irreparable and painful loss.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on X, praising Rana as a “veteran leader” who worked diligently for Jammu and Kashmir’s progress.
J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a former political ally of Rana, attended the funeral in Jammu. He expressed his sorrow on X, recalling their shared experiences and work.
Leaders across the political spectrum, including Mehbooba Mufti of the PDP, Altaf Bukhari of the Apni Party, Sajad Lone of the Peoples Conference, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and former Governor N.N. Vohra, also offered their condolences.
