**New Delhi, November 2, 2024:** India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with his Thai counterpart, Maris Sangiampongsa, in Delhi on Saturday. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties, fostering multilateral cooperation, and discussing regional developments.
Mr. Jaishankar highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural links between India and Thailand, noting that Mr. Sangiampongsa’s visit for the Royal Kathina ceremony, a traditional Buddhist ritual, exemplifies this strong connection.
The two ministers also discussed progress in various areas of partnership, building on their previous meeting in July during the second BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in New Delhi.
During the July meeting, both ministers emphasized their commitment to closer cooperation in regional and multilateral forums, aligning with the vision of both Prime Ministers for a stronger India-Thailand partnership.
Thailand is a key partner for India in the ASEAN, with both countries actively promoting regional cooperation. India’s “Act East” policy and Thailand’s “Act West” policy have significant convergence, further strengthening the bilateral relationship.
This latest meeting between the foreign ministers further underscores the growing partnership between India and Thailand, promising continued cooperation and shared progress in the future.
