Sat Nov 02 02:59:01 UTC 2024: ## Govardhan Puja 2024: Celebrations Begin Tomorrow

**New Delhi, November 1st, 2024:** The annual Govardhan Puja, also known as Annakut, will be celebrated on November 2nd, 2024. This auspicious day marks the day after Diwali and commemorates Lord Krishna’s victory over Indra.

The auspicious time for Govardhan Puja will fall between 6:34 AM to 8:46 AM, 3:23 PM to 5:35 PM, and 5:35 PM to 6:01 PM.

The puja involves creating a miniature Govardhan hill out of cow dung, which is then decorated with flowers. Offerings of incense, food, flowers, and fruits are presented to the hill. Traditionally, a clay lamp filled with milk, yogurt, Ganga water, honey, and sugar candy is placed in the center of the dung hill.

Govardhan Puja is also associated with worshipping Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect. This involves offering prayers to machines and factories.

The festival is observed by performing seven rounds (parikrama) around the Govardhan hill while sprinkling water and sowing barley seeds.

This year, the festivities will begin on November 1st at 6:16 PM and conclude on November 2nd at 8:21 PM.
