Fri Nov 01 23:18:00 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Pradesh Water Minister Accuses Former CM Jagan of Sabotaging Polavaram Project
**Amaravati, November 1:** Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu has accused former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of sabotaging the Polavaram Project, claiming that a 15-month delay in the project due to “reverse tendering” led to the collapse of a diaphragm wall.
In a scathing attack on the former CM, Rama Naidu alleged that Jagan had “deceived” the people of Andhra Pradesh and is now resorting to “diversionary tactics” to deflect criticism. He further alleged that Jagan had “manipulated” the media by spreading false information about the project’s height.
“Jagan should be awarded an Oscar for his lies,” said Rama Naidu, adding that Jagan had “misappropriated” Rs. 3,800 crore allocated by the central government for the project. The minister also alleged that Jagan had written to the central government requesting a reduction in the project’s height to 41.15 meters, claiming that this would ultimately undermine the project’s potential.
Rama Naidu assured the public that the current government is committed to completing the project at its original height of 45.72 meters, which will allow for a maximum storage capacity of 196.40 TMC. He further emphasized that the government’s commitment to the project will bring prosperity to the state.
The allegations have further intensified the ongoing political battle between the ruling YSRCP and the opposition TDP over the Polavaram Project, which remains a major issue in the state.
