Fri Nov 01 04:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Trail Blazers Outlast Clippers in Close Battle

**LOS ANGELES** – The Portland Trail Blazers pulled off a dramatic comeback Wednesday night, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 106-105 in a nail-biting contest.

Anfernee Simons led the Blazers with 25 points, including several clutch baskets in the fourth quarter, while Deandre Ayton recorded his fifth consecutive double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Deni Avdija played a key role, contributing 13 points and 10 rebounds, including a game-saving block on Norman Powell with 29 seconds remaining.

The Clippers, led by Powell’s 30 points and James Harden’s 19 points and 10 assists, held the lead throughout the fourth quarter until Simons’ go-ahead layup with 2:44 remaining. However, Los Angeles went ice cold in the final minutes, missing crucial shots and turning the ball over, allowing the Blazers to secure the victory.

The Clippers’ inability to capitalize on a late opportunity was evident when Ivica Zubac missed both free throws with 1:20 remaining, down by one point. They were unable to get another shot off before time expired.

The Trail Blazers will now host the Thunder on Friday, while the Clippers will look to bounce back against the Suns on Thursday.
