Fri Nov 01 15:42:17 UTC 2024: ## Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again” Reimagines Ramayana with Cop Universe Twist

Rohit Shetty’s latest action-comedy, “Singham Again,” takes the classic tale of Ramayana and reimagines it with his signature brand of cop universe action, humor, and drama. Ajay Devgn leads the charge as Bajirao Singham, channeling the spirit of Ram, while Arjun Kapoor plays Zubair aka Danger Lanka, a villain seeking revenge for his family, echoing the role of Ravana.

The film boasts a star-studded cast, with Ranveer Singh as Simmba, representing Hanuman, Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi, stepping into the role of Garuda, and Tiger Shroff as Satya, a nod to Laxman. Deepika Padukone joins the franchise as Shakti Shetty, a powerful character inspired by Sugreev.

While the story follows the familiar path of Ramayana, Shetty brings a contemporary twist, blending mythology with a modern setting. The film is peppered with meta jokes, witty references to other films, and clever dialogues that add to the entertainment value.

“Singham Again” excels in its action sequences, with car chases, explosions, and breathtaking stunts. The film also boasts strong performances from the entire cast, with Devgn leading the way as the righteous Singham, Kapoor as the menacing villain, and Singh providing comic relief.

Despite its strengths, the film has its shortcomings. The VFX in Akshay Kumar’s sequences falter, and the absence of a musical score is a missed opportunity. The film also falls prey to jingoism with its use of popular dialogues and nationalist sentiments.

However, Shetty delivers enough wow moments to make “Singham Again” an engaging watch. The post-credit scene featuring Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey, announcing “Mission Chulbul Singham,” is sure to pique audience curiosity and leave them wanting more.
