Fri Nov 01 11:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Sundar Shines, India Dominate Morning Session in Mumbai Test
**MUMBAI, INDIA -** Washington Sundar continued his impressive form, claiming two crucial wickets in the morning session of the third and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday.
Sundar, fresh off a match haul of 11 wickets in the previous Test, dismissed in-form batsman Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra with identical deliveries. Both batsmen were bowled off the stumps after Sundar, bowling around the wicket, produced deliveries that beat their defences comprehensively.
The dismissals put India in a dominant position, with New Zealand struggling at 92/3 at lunch. Earlier, Akash Deep had provided the initial breakthrough, trapping Devon Conway lbw.
While Sundar’s bowling was a highlight, Sarfaraz Khan’s overly enthusiastic celebrations caught attention. The young batsman was seen getting in Ravindra’s face after his dismissal, and was also involved in heated exchanges with Daryl Mitchell later in the session. Captain Rohit Sharma had to intervene to cool things down.
Despite a brief fightback from Daryl Mitchell and Will Young, who added an 87-run partnership, India remained in control. Ravindra Jadeja then took two wickets, dismissing Young for 71 and Tom Blundell for a duck.
The extreme heat and humidity at the Wankhede affected both teams, with New Zealand players struggling to run between the wickets. Sundar himself was seen running out of T-shirts, eventually resorting to wearing Dhruv Jurel’s jersey.
India, aiming to avoid a 0-3 whitewash, will be hoping to build on their strong start in the afternoon session.
