Fri Nov 01 10:21:18 UTC 2024: ## Ravindra Jadeja Overtakes Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan to Become India’s Fifth Highest Wicket-taker in Tests
**Mumbai:** Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder for India, has achieved a significant milestone in the ongoing third and final Test match against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium. With a crucial three-wicket haul, Jadeja has surpassed both Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan to become India’s fifth highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.
The left-arm spinner has been a thorn in the side of the Kiwi batsmen, picking up three wickets in two sessions, including the prized scalp of Glenn Phillips before tea. This feat places him among the elite bowlers in Indian Test history.
With 312 wickets to his name, Jadeja has now moved ahead of both Zaheer (311) and Ishant (311). The only bowlers with more Test wickets for India are Anil Kumble (619), Harbhajan Singh (417), Kapil Dev (434), and R Ashwin (464).
Jadeja’s performance on the opening day of the Test match has been instrumental in keeping New Zealand on the back foot. He claimed two wickets in the 61st over, dismissing both Ish Sodhi and Matt Henry.
The Kiwis were eventually bowled out for 217 runs, with Jadeja being the pick of the bowlers. This victory will be crucial for India to seal the series 3-0, further solidifying their dominance in Test cricket.
