Fri Nov 01 07:46:42 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka Celebrates Unification with Grand Rajyotsava Festivities

**Bengaluru, October 27, 2023:** Karnataka will celebrate its annual Karnataka Rajyotsava, also known as Karnataka Formation Day, on November 1st, marking the state’s unification and official establishment in 1956. The day celebrates Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage, language, and traditions.

This year, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has mandated that all institutions across the state, including IT companies, factories, and educational establishments, hoist the Kannada flag on November 1st. “November 1 is an important day for Karnataka,” Shivakumar said, emphasizing the importance of celebrating the state’s cultural identity.

Rajyotsava celebrations are traditionally marked by vibrant cultural events, parades, and folk performances that showcase Karnataka’s diverse heritage. The Karnataka state flag, featuring red and yellow, will fly high across the state, with schools, colleges, and government offices also participating in the festivities.

The celebration commemorates the unification of Kannada-speaking regions that were previously scattered across neighboring states. The movement for linguistic unification gained momentum, leading to the creation of Mysore State, which was later renamed Karnataka in 1973. This year’s Rajyotsava serves as a reminder of the hard work and dedication of those who fought for the state’s formation and the importance of preserving Karnataka’s unique cultural identity.
