**HONG KONG:** Pakistan secured a convincing victory over India in a thrilling match of the Hong Kong Super Sixes on Friday, securing their place in the tournament’s knockout stages.
India, sent in to bat first, started with a bang, with captain Robin Uthappa smashing 27 runs in the opening over. However, Faheem Ashraf brought Pakistan back into the game with two wickets in the second over. Bharat Chipli’s 16-ball 53 and Manoj Tiwary’s 7-ball 17 not out helped India reach a respectable 119/2.
Pakistan’s chase was dominated by the explosive duo of Asif Ali and Muhammad Akhlaq. Ali, retired hurt after scoring a whirlwind 14-ball 55, and Akhlaq, who remained unbeaten on 40 off 12 balls, took the game away from India with their aggressive hitting.
The match concluded in style when captain Faheem Ashraf smashed three consecutive sixes in the final over, securing a six-wicket victory for Pakistan with an over to spare.
This win means Pakistan has won both their Pool C matches and qualified for the knockout stages. India, on the other hand, will need to win their final match against UAE to advance to the next round.
