**MUMBAI** – India will be without their star paceman Jasprit Bumrah for the crucial third and final Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, with the BCCI confirming that he is still recovering from a viral illness. The decision to rest Bumrah, a key component of India’s bowling attack, comes as a precautionary measure to ensure his fitness ahead of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, starting on November 22 in Perth.
Mohammed Siraj will take Bumrah’s place in the Indian pace attack, hoping to make a strong impact as the team seeks a series win. Coach Gautam Gambhir acknowledged the importance of resting Bumrah, emphasizing the need to keep him fresh for the upcoming challenges.
Despite participating in India’s training session on Wednesday, Bumrah did not bowl in the nets and was flown back to Ahmedabad to continue his recovery.
Meanwhile, the Indian team will also see the inclusion of promising young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will open alongside captain Rohit Sharma. Other key players like Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are also expected to play a crucial role.
New Zealand, on the other hand, will field a strong lineup with Tom Latham confirmed to lead the team. Ish Sodhi returns to the squad, replacing Mitchell Santner who has sustained a side strain. Matt Henry also makes his return, replacing Tim Southee.
The third Test promises to be an exciting contest, with India looking to finish the series on a high, while New Zealand will be aiming for a positive result before heading home.
