Fri Nov 01 16:08:55 UTC 2024: ## Modi Accuses Congress of Making “Fake Promises” Ahead of Elections
**New Delhi, November 1, 2024:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing them of making unrealistic promises during election campaigns and failing to deliver on them once in power.
Modi, in a series of posts on X, highlighted the Congress’s recent advice to its state units to make only financially viable promises. He pointed out the party’s track record in states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, where he claims development and fiscal health have deteriorated under Congress rule.
“Check any State where the Congress has governments today – Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana – the developmental trajectory and fiscal health is turning from bad to worse,” Modi stated. “Their so-called guarantees lie unfulfilled, which is a terrible deceit upon the people of these States.”
He went on to accuse the Congress of neglecting existing schemes in favor of internal political battles and personal gain. He cited examples of unpaid salaries for government workers in Himachal Pradesh, unfulfilled loan waivers for farmers in Telangana, and unimplemented allowances promised in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
Modi urged the public to be “vigilant against the Congress-sponsored culture of fake promises.” He drew attention to the recent Haryana elections where the Congress’s alleged lies were rejected by voters.
BJP MP and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad echoed Modi’s claims, stating that the Congress had finally realized the importance of financial viability in making promises. He questioned whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had received the same message.
Prasad pointed to the various promises made by Gandhi in Himachal Pradesh, which he claims have led to the state’s current financial crisis. He contrasted this with the BJP’s implementation of schemes like the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, where farmers receive direct payments, and Digital India, which he says has transformed the digital landscape.
Prasad demanded an apology from Congress leaders Kharge and Gandhi for their “false” announcements in Telangana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh. He also warned voters in Maharashtra and Jharkhand to be wary of Congress promises.
Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal dismissed Modi’s claims, stating that the party is implementing its promises in Karnataka and challenged anyone to prove otherwise.
