**Chennai, November 1:** Actor Sivakarthikeyan’s latest film, “Amaran,” a biopic on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, has had a record-breaking Diwali opening, exceeding even his previous career-best figures.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, “Amaran” raked in over Rs 21 crore nett at the domestic box office on its first day, October 31. The film, which released alongside other big releases like “Brother” and “Bloody Beggar,” garnered massive anticipation and has been met with overwhelmingly positive reviews.
In Tamil Nadu, “Amaran” reportedly earned a gross of Rs 15 crore on day one, further solidifying its impressive start. With the positive buzz and November 1 being a holiday in Tamil Nadu, the film is poised for a strong opening weekend.
While “Amaran” trails behind Vijay’s “GOAT” and Rajinikanth’s “Vettaiyan” in terms of opening day collections this year, it has surpassed Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2” opening day numbers in Tamil Nadu.
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy and featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, “Amaran” is an adaptation of the book series “India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes” by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. The film is produced jointly by Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films India.
