Fri Nov 01 11:09:45 UTC 2024: ## Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Amaran’ Breaks Box Office Records in Tamil Nadu

**Chennai, India:** Sivakarthikeyan’s latest film, “Amaran,” a war biopic based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, has stormed the box office, shattering records in Tamil Nadu on its release day. The film, which premiered on Diwali, earned a massive ₹15 crore gross in its home state, surpassing even the opening day collections of superstar Kamal Haasan’s “Indian 2.”

According to trade trackers, “Amaran” has also garnered the highest opening day collection for any Sivakarthikeyan film, earning ₹21.25 crore net domestically. This makes it the third highest opening day collection in Tamil Nadu for the year, trailing only Vijay’s “GOAT” and Rajinikanth’s “Vettaiyan.”

The film, which tells the story of the Ashok Chakra recipient and his bravery during a counterterrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir, has been critically acclaimed for its compelling narrative and powerful performances.

The film’s success is particularly noteworthy as Diwali isn’t traditionally considered the biggest festive weekend for Tamil and Telugu films. However, “Amaran” has clearly captured the audience’s imagination, fueled by strong word-of-mouth reviews.

“Amaran” is expected to perform even better over the weekend, with overseas box office figures yet to be released. The film is projected to cross ₹100 crore gross in the first week itself, possibly even the first weekend, if its momentum continues.

Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, “Amaran” stars Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, with Sai Pallavi playing his wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. The film features a strong supporting cast including Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Lallu, Shreekumar, and Shyam Mohan.
