Tue Oct 29 18:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Panthers Face Broncos Without Key Players, Young to Start

DENVER – The Carolina Panthers will be without their starting quarterback, Andy Dalton, and top wide receiver, Diontae Johnson, for today’s game against the Denver Broncos. Dalton suffered a sprained thumb in a car accident last week and will be inactive.

Rookie Bryce Young will take over as starting quarterback with fellow rookie Jack Plummer, activated from the practice squad, serving as his backup.

The Panthers will also be without several other key players including safety Jammie Robinson, cornerbacks Dane Jackson and Shemar Bartholomew, tackle Yosh Nijman, and defensive end Jonathan Harris.

Despite the absences, the Panthers received a boost to their defense with the return of starting defensive end A’Shawn Robinson, outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, and linebacker Josey Jewell.

With Johnson and Adam Thielen inactive, the Panthers will rely on a young receiving corps featuring Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, Jonathan Mingo, and David Moore.

The Panthers are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 1-7 start to the season. This game marks Young’s first start since Week 2.
