Wed Oct 30 14:31:47 UTC 2024: ## Nark Chaturdashi 2024: Light the Way to Prosperity and Good Health
**New Delhi, India** – Nark Chaturdashi, also known as Choti Diwali, will be celebrated on October 30th, 2024, a day before Diwali. This festival is dedicated to worshipping Yama, the god of death, Lord Krishna, and Hanuman.
**Rituals and Significance**
The festival begins at 1:15 PM on October 30th and ends at 3:52 PM on October 31st. The auspicious time for the main puja is from 4:36 PM to 6:15 PM on October 30th.
On this day, devotees light a four-faced lamp filled with mustard oil, known as the ‘Yam Deepa’. The lamp is placed outside the house facing south. It is believed that this ritual wards off misfortune and untimely death.
Another important practice is lighting lamps at sunset, inside and outside the house. This is done to dispel negativity. Devotees also offer fruits, flowers, and sweets to Lord Krishna, light a lamp for Yama at the main door to protect against untimely death, and pay respects to Hanuman.
**Special Remedies**
Nark Chaturdashi is also associated with various remedies for specific needs:
* **Debt Relief:** Light a nine-faced ghee lamp before Hanuman and offer him laddoos equal to one’s age. Recite the Hanuman Chalisa nine times and distribute the prasad to children or give it to a cow the next morning.
* **Peace and Prosperity:** Light lamps in honour of ancestors during the puja to bring peace, prosperity, and well-being to the home.
* **Beauty:** Add rose petals, sandalwood powder, saffron, milk, and a little honey to a bucket of water and let it sit overnight. Bathe in this water the next morning for a radiant glow.
* **Longevity and Good Health:** Light a single-wick mustard oil lamp on a pile of grain facing south, as an offering to Yama, and pray for good health and a long life.
Nark Chaturdashi is a time to seek blessings for a happy and healthy year. It is believed that by performing these rituals and seeking divine grace, one can achieve spiritual, material, and emotional well-being.
