Tue Oct 29 17:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Elversberg Fans Set New Record for Away Support in Leverkusen DFB-Pokal Clash

**Leverkusen, Germany -** The SV Elversberg will be cheered on by the largest away following in the club’s history when they face off against current German champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal second round on Tuesday evening.

Over 1,900 tickets have already been sold for the away section at the BayArena, surpassing the previous record set by the Elversberg fans at the away game in Karlsruhe earlier this season. This marks the first time in the club’s history that they will face a reigning German champion in a competitive match.

The previous record for away support was set in the 2022-2023 season when 1,800 Elversberg fans traveled to the Betzenberg for a match against local rivals Kaiserslautern. The club’s average away following sits at 407 fans.

This match will also mark a significant milestone for Elversberg. While this is only their fourth away game in DFB-Pokal history, it will be their sixth appearance in the second round. Despite their success, the club has never advanced to the round of 16.

The match against Leverkusen is a rematch of the 2022 DFB-Pokal first round, where Elversberg stunned the Bundesliga side with a 4-3 victory at their home ground. This victory was Leverkusen’s last defeat in the competition.

The BayArena is not yet sold out for the game, but there are still a limited number of tickets available for purchase.
