Wed Oct 30 02:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Brooklyn Apartment Complex Staff Become Unofficial Tour Guides for Ebbets Field Plaque

**BROOKLYN, NY** – A small plaque in a parking lot, marking the former home plate of Ebbets Field, the legendary home of the Brooklyn Dodgers, is a popular attraction for baseball fans. The plaque, nestled within the grounds of the Ebbets Field Apartments, often draws curious visitors who wander the parking lot in search of the historical landmark.

Ezra Askotzky, the maintenance manager of the apartment complex, and his staff have taken it upon themselves to become unofficial tour guides for visitors. They regularly find fans staring at the ground, eager to see the spot where Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball in 1947.

Askotzky, who moved to Brooklyn from Milwaukee in 2021, says he enjoys showing visitors the plaque and even provides wooden bats for photo opportunities. “People come all the way out here just to see something that means so much to them,” he said. “It’s not a big deal for us to go out there and give someone a bat and offer to take their picture. You see the smile, and that makes it worth it.”

The plaque is a reminder of the rich history of baseball in Brooklyn and serves as a constant source of pride for the residents of the Ebbets Field Apartments.
