**New Delhi, October 28, 2024:** With the deadline for IPL player retention approaching on October 31st, teams are gearing up for the upcoming season. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who have yet to win the IPL title, are reportedly looking to build a strong team with the retention of six key players.
Leading the list is the Indian cricketing legend, Virat Kohli. Kohli has been a cornerstone of the RCB franchise since its inception and his consistent performance, including 741 runs in the last season, makes him the top priority for the team.
Joining Kohli is current RCB captain, Faf du Plessis. Du Plessis, who recently led the St Lucia Kings to the Caribbean Premier League Championship, is expected to continue leading the team in the IPL.
RCB is also retaining Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, known for his aggressive bowling style. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who has been a vital player for RCB, is also likely to stay on.
To strengthen their batting lineup, the franchise is keen on retaining the talented Rajat Patidar, who has consistently delivered impressive performances. Lastly, the team aims to retain left-arm Indian fast bowler Yash Dayal, a promising uncapped talent.
Each IPL team is allowed to retain only 6 players, with the option of utilizing the Right-to-Match card for further retention. The complete picture of retained players across all teams will be unveiled on October 31st.
With a solid core of players, RCB is looking to build a formidable squad to finally challenge for the IPL title in 2025.
