Tue Oct 29 05:59:41 UTC 2024: ## Khaled Ahmed Replaces Taskin Ahmed for Second Test Against South Africa
**Chattogram, Bangladesh:** Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Thursday that pace bowler Khaled Ahmed will replace Taskin Ahmed in the second Test against South Africa, which begins on October 29th in Chattogram. The decision comes after Bangladesh suffered a seven-wicket defeat in the opening Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
The selection panel cited the need for rest for Taskin, who is a key player across all formats for Bangladesh. “We wanted to give Taskin some rest,” a selection panel member told Cricbuzz. “He will be away from home for 50 days, with ODI matches against Afghanistan and a full series against the West Indies coming up soon. We want him to be fresh for these upcoming tours.”
Khaled’s inclusion provides Bangladesh with a backup option, especially considering the availability of other pacers like Nahid Rana and Hasan Mahmud. “We felt Khaled was a good option to have in the squad,” the selector added. “If we need him, we can use him.”
The Bangladesh squad will travel to Chattogram on October 26th.
