Tue Oct 29 04:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Steelers’ Justin Fields Out for Monday Night Game, Will Serve as Emergency Quarterback
PITTSBURGH – Justin Fields will be sidelined for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Monday night game against the New York Giants due to a hamstring injury. The young quarterback, who was listed as questionable after being added to the injury report on Sunday, will serve as the team’s emergency third quarterback.
Fields was a full participant in all practices leading up to the game and even threw warm-up passes on the field before kickoff, suggesting he was initially expected to be available. However, the hamstring issue ultimately prevented him from suiting up.
With Fields out, Kyle Allen will serve as the primary backup to starting quarterback Russell Wilson, who is making his second start of the season after missing the first six weeks with a calf injury.
Wilson’s return has already proven impactful, as he threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns in his debut against the Jets, setting a franchise record for passing yards in a debut performance.
The Steelers will be hoping that Wilson can continue his strong play against the Giants, while Fields recovers from his hamstring injury.
