**New Delhi, India -** Singapore’s Defence Minister, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, has begun a three-day visit to India, starting with a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

The highlight of his visit will be the sixth India-Singapore Defence Ministers’ Dialogue, co-chaired by Dr. Ng and his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, on Tuesday.

The dialogue aims to further strengthen the already strong defence cooperation between the two countries. Discussions are expected to cover regional and global security issues of mutual interest.

India and Singapore share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with defence relations forming a key pillar. This collaboration includes extensive military-to-military exchanges, high-level visits, capacity building programs, and joint participation in UN peacekeeping missions.

The India-Singapore Defence Ministers’ Dialogue, inaugurated in 2016, provides a platform to enhance bilateral defence cooperation. Dr. Ng’s visit further underlines the longstanding and robust defence relationship between the two nations.

Singapore plays a pivotal role in India’s Act East Policy and is a key partner in the Indo-Pacific vision. The defence and security partnership between the two countries is considered crucial for stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

The fifth edition of the Dialogue was held virtually in January 2021.
