Tue Oct 29 05:39:28 UTC 2024: ## Ancient Mughal Coins Unearthed in Saharanpur Field
**Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh:** A significant historical discovery has been made in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where silver coins dating back to the Mughal era were unearthed during excavation work in a field.
The coins, featuring inscriptions in Persian, were found by laborers working on a land leveling project in the village of Chaubara. Initial plans to divide the coins amongst the workers were thwarted by the contractor, who reported the find to the authorities.
Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the site and seized the 49 coins, which are believed to have belonged to Mughal emperors Shah Jahan and Mohammad Shah. Experts have confirmed the coins’ authenticity based on the presence of the Hijri year 1035, a time period synonymous with the Mughal era.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the Archaeological Department have been informed of the discovery and are expected to investigate the historical significance of the find further.
