Mon Oct 28 21:39:49 UTC 2024: ## Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei’s Hebrew X Account Suspended

**Jerusalem, October 28, 2024:** A newly created X account belonging to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which posted messages in Hebrew, has been suspended by the social media platform. The suspension, which occurred early Monday morning, was accompanied by a brief notice stating that the account violated X’s rules, though the specific violation was not disclosed.

The move follows Israel’s first open attack on Iran this weekend, in response to a recent Iranian ballistic missile attack. While Khamenei acknowledged the strikes in a speech on Sunday, he refrained from calling for retaliation, stating that the strikes “should not be exaggerated nor downplayed.”

The Hebrew-language X account was opened Sunday with a standard Islamic greeting, “In the name of God, the most merciful.” The account’s first post referred to Israel’s attack, stating, “Zionists are making a miscalculation with respect to Iran. They don’t know Iran. They still haven’t been able to correctly understand the power, initiative, and determination of the Iranian people.”

This is not the first instance of Khamenei facing social media suspension. In February, Meta removed his Facebook and Instagram accounts for his support of Hamas, following the group’s attack on Israel in October 2023. It is noteworthy that social media platforms like X and Facebook are blocked in Iran, requiring citizens to utilize VPNs to access them.
