Tue Oct 29 08:18:34 UTC 2024: ## India Wins First ODI Against New Zealand in a Dramatic Run Out

Ahmedabad, India: The Indian women’s cricket team triumphed over New Zealand in the first ODI match of the series, securing a victory after dismissing their opponents for 227 runs in 44.3 overs. The match was marked by a dramatic run out of New Zealand captain Sophie Devine, which left the Kiwi team stunned.

Devine, known for her aggressive batting style, was caught in a moment of misjudgement. She was attempting to reach the non-striker’s end after a delivery was bowled to the final ball of the 12th over. Despite knowing the ball was in the hands of India’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma, Devine attempted to run, leading to a comical end to the chase.

Sharma quickly passed the ball to wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia who swiftly effected the run out, leaving Devine bewildered at the turn of events. The incident was reviewed by the third umpire who confirmed the dismissal, much to the chagrin of the New Zealand side.

The win for India was further sweetened by the debut of two young players, Saima Thakur and Tejal Hasabnis. The Indian team opted to bat first, setting a target of 227 runs before dismissing the Kiwi team. This victory serves as a strong start to the series for the hosts.
