Mon Oct 28 23:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Dodgers Opt for Buehler in Game 3, Gil to Start Game 4 for Yankees

The Los Angeles Dodgers will send Walker Buehler to the mound in Game 3 of the World Series against the New York Yankees on Monday night at Yankee Stadium. This decision keeps the Dodgers’ pitching rotation on track and allows for a bullpen game in Game 4.

Buehler, who will face Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt, is coming off a second Tommy John surgery and has adjusted his pitching style. Despite experiencing less swing-and-miss on his fastball, he showcased his adaptability in Game 3 of the NLCS, effectively using his curveball to escape jams.

“We love Walker in big games,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. “The road isn’t going to faze him.”

Meanwhile, the Yankees will counter with Luis Gil in Game 4 in New York on Tuesday. Gil, a hard-throwing rookie, impressed in his first half of the season and earned a spot in the rotation after Gerrit Cole’s injury. He pitched well in Game 4 of the ALCS, giving up two runs over four innings against the Cleveland Guardians.

The series is tied at 1-1 after a dramatic Game 2 win for the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
