Tue Oct 29 02:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Clippers Outlast Nuggets Despite Jokic’s Heroics
**DENVER** – The Los Angeles Clippers overcame a 41-point performance by Nikola Jokic to defeat the Denver Nuggets 109-104 on Saturday. James Harden led the Clippers with 23 points and 16 assists, while Norman Powell poured in 26 of his 37 points in the second half.
Despite a career-high seven three-pointers, Jokic missed a crucial free throw with 20 seconds remaining that could have tied the game. Harden, who made four free throws in the final 30.5 seconds, helped secure the victory for the Clippers.
The game went down to the wire, with the Clippers trailing 103-100 before Powell hit a clutch three-pointer. Jamal Murray, who scored 22 points for Denver, missed a layup on the next possession, allowing Harden to extend the lead with two free throws.
Although Jokic split a pair of free throws, Harden answered with another two free throws, putting the Clippers up 107-104. A missed three-pointer by Jokic sealed the Nuggets’ fate.
The Clippers’ victory was fueled by the strong play of Ivica Zubac, who had 24 points and 15 rebounds. He benefitted greatly from Harden’s impressive assist numbers.
The Nuggets, despite Jokic’s brilliance, struggled with their bench shooting, going 3 of 18 from the field. The team also struggled from three-point range, making just 12 of 38 attempts.
The Clippers will face the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, while the Nuggets will begin a three-game road trip in Toronto on Monday.
