**Melbourne, Australia – October 23, 2024** – Australia has announced a new visa program offering 1000 Indian citizens aged 18 to 30 the opportunity to work and travel in the country for a year. The initiative, part of the Australian Working Holiday Maker program, was announced by Australian Immigration Assistant Minister, Matt Thistlethwaite.
This program, a key component of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, allows Indian citizens to gain valuable work experience and explore Australia for a year. Successful applicants can even apply for a second year visa if they meet certain criteria.
“This is a significant step towards deepening our social and economic ties with India,” stated Minister Thistlethwaite.
India joins the list of 50 countries participating in the popular Australian program, with the initiative officially commencing on October 1st, 2024. The program offers a multi-entry visa for a 12-month stay, allowing holders to work and travel in Australia.
Applications opened on October 1st and will close on October 31st. Interested Indian nationals must register through a pre-application ballot system. A computerized system will randomly select eligible candidates. The application fee is $25, with a visa cost of approximately $650.
This exciting opportunity has generated immense interest, with over 40,000 applications received already. The program promises to foster cultural exchange and strengthen the already growing ties between India and Australia.
