**Indore, October 21, 2024** – The Shri Devi Ahilyotsav Committee’s annual tradition of cleaning religious sites for Dhanteras entered its 12th year this year. The committee has successfully completed cleaning work at 226 religious locations across the city.
The initiative, guided by former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, began 11 years ago and continues to promote cleanliness and religious harmony. The committee’s executive president Ashok Daga, minister Sharayu Wagmare, and coordinators Sudhir Dedge and Prashant Badve confirmed the completion of the cleaning operations.
“On Tuesday morning, 9:30 AM, Ms. Mahajan will inaugurate the event by lighting a lamp and creating a rangoli at the Ahilya statue,” said Ram Moondara, the media coordinator. “Several dignitaries including MP Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, and MLA Golu Shukla will also be present.”
The committee has also organized a ceremony to light a lamp at the proposed Ahilya Memorial Trust site on RTO Road at 11 AM. Committees have been formed for each assembly constituency to coordinate the event.
Volunteers from the committee worked tirelessly throughout Monday to clean various temples and religious sites. This annual endeavor emphasizes the importance of cleanliness and respect for religious spaces, setting a positive example for the entire city.
