**New Delhi, India** – The festival of Diwali commenced today with Dhanteras, marking the start of the five-day festival of lights. Two auspicious time slots, from 9 am to 8:55 pm, have been identified for shopping, investments, and new beginnings. The auspicious “Tripushkar Yoga”, which is believed to amplify the fruits of one’s actions threefold, is also coinciding with the festival this year.

Tonight, devotees will perform puja to Lord Dhanvantari, Kubera, and Goddess Lakshmi. Diyas will also be lit in honor of Yama, the god of death, seeking protection from illnesses and a long life.

This year, Diwali will be celebrated for six days instead of the usual five, with Kartik Amavasya falling on both October 31st and November 1st. Following extensive discussions among astrologers across the country, the majority have decided that celebrating Diwali on October 31st is more auspicious.
