**Purnia:** The historic Vishnupur Kali Temple, revered for over 300 years, is preparing for the annual Kali Puja celebrations with fervor. The temple, known for its unique blend of Vedic and Tantric rituals, is undergoing a makeover, including painting and decoration.
The temple committee, led by President Devesh Nath Jha, is working tirelessly to ensure a smooth and auspicious celebration. Members like Jiveshwar Mishra, Ashish Jha, Ashutosh Jha, Ajay Jha, Omkar Mishra, Rahul Mishra, and others are actively involved in the preparations.
The temple’s history dates back over 300 years, with legends linking it to a newlywed bride who arrived in Vishnupur from Rani Ganj. The bride brought a ‘Khoichha’ (a traditional gift wrapped in her saree) for the family deity. The knot of the ‘Khoichha’ remained untied, leading to anxieties and fears of supernatural occurrences. It is said that the deity manifested at this location, calming the anxieties and becoming the center of faith for the community.
The upcoming Kali Puja is expected to attract a large number of devotees, seeking blessings from the deity. The festivities promise a vibrant celebration, steeped in tradition and faith.
