Sun Oct 27 17:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Inter Milan Boss Warns of Tight Title Race Despite Strong Start
**MILAN** – Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has cautioned against complacency despite the club’s successful Serie A title defense last season. In a press conference ahead of Sunday’s Derby d’Italia clash against Juventus, Inzaghi predicted a much tighter race for the Scudetto this year.
“This year it will be a more balanced championship than usual; many teams have spent a lot to close the gap that had been created,” said Inzaghi. He specifically highlighted Juventus as a major threat, calling them “the best team in Europe in terms of goals conceded” and praising their new coach, Thiago Motta.
Despite Inter’s dominant 19-point victory over AC Milan last season, they currently sit two points behind league leaders Napoli and just one ahead of Juventus. While other managers like Motta and Napoli’s Antonio Conte have downplayed their title aspirations, Inzaghi remains focused on achieving Inter’s goals.
“We know that we start from the beginning of the season with clear goals, to play as many games as possible to ensure that we get as far as possible in the cups and try to be competitive in the league,” he stated.
Inter will face Juventus on Sunday with injury concerns for defender Francesco Acerbi and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu. Inzaghi, however, remains confident in his squad’s ability to overcome these challenges. “We know what Calhanoglu represents for us, he is a world-class player,” he said. “His natural replacement is Asllani, if he gives me the right guarantees he will play.”
The Derby d’Italia promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams seek to establish themselves as early contenders for the Serie A title.
