Mon Oct 28 02:20:06 UTC 2024: ## Rama Ekadashi: A Day of Fasting and Devotion to Lord Vishnu

On October 28th, 2024, Hindus around the world will observe Rama Ekadashi, a significant fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This year, the Ekadashi tithi begins at 5:24 AM on the 27th and concludes at 7:51 AM on the 28th. The auspicious Hari Vasara ends at 2:31 PM on the 28th, and Parana (breaking the fast) is observed between 6:34 AM and 8:49 AM on the 29th.

Rama Ekadashi is a special occasion for devotees who observe a strict fast from the Dashami tithi till the Dwadashi tithi. On Ekadashi, complete abstinence from food is practiced, followed by a sattvic meal on Dwadashi before sunset. Night vigil is also observed during the fast.

The day is dedicated to worshipping Lord Vishnu and his consort, Goddess Lakshmi. Devotees perform aarti, offer fruits, flowers, incense, and dhoop, and prepare a special feast for Lord Vishnu. Reading the Bhagavad Gita and reciting bhajans are also considered meritorious on this day.

According to Hindu scriptures, observing Rama Ekadashi is considered more beneficial than performing hundreds of Rajasuya Yagyas or thousands of Ashvamedha Yagyas. It is believed to liberate devotees from all their sins and grant them salvation, leading them to the supreme abode of Lord Vishnu, Vaikuntha.

On this auspicious occasion, Hindus worldwide will seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi for happiness, prosperity, and long life.
