Mon Oct 28 11:40:00 UTC 2024: ## North Shore Brush Fire Spreads to 130 Acres, Air National Guard Assists in Containment

**SALEM, MA** – A brush fire that ignited Saturday evening in Salem, Massachusetts, has expanded to 130 acres, prompting ongoing firefighting efforts. The fire, which originated near Spring Pond in Salem, has spread into neighboring Lynn.

Salem Fire Chief Alan Dionne attributed the rapid spread to dry and windy conditions. “We’re anticipating similar conditions today, possibly with a slight wind shift,” Dionne stated. “We have resources and teams ready to respond.”

The Air National Guard has been providing aerial support with water drops to help contain the blaze. Local residents are praising firefighters for their work in keeping the flames away from homes. “They literally saved these two houses,” said one resident. “If the fire had gotten out of control, it could have taken the whole neighborhood down.”

While no structures have been damaged and no evacuation orders have been issued, the fire’s smoke has carried for miles, reaching as far as Needham. Local police there have reassured residents that the smell is related to the brush fires and not a cause for alarm.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
