Mon Oct 28 04:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Hyderabad Imposes Restrictions on Public Gatherings Amidst Security Concerns
**HYDERABAD, INDIA – October 28, 2024** – In a move aimed at maintaining public order, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand has imposed a ban on public gatherings, protests, and demonstrations across the city, effective from 6 p.m. on October 27th and lasting until November 28th.
The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, prohibits gatherings of five or more people, processions, rallies, public meetings, and any displays of symbols or messages that could incite unrest. The only exception is the designated Indira Park Dharna Chowk, where peaceful protests are permitted.
The decision comes in response to intelligence reports indicating that various organizations and political parties were planning demonstrations that could potentially disrupt peace.
Police personnel on duty, military personnel, funeral processions, and individuals with specific exemptions from competent authorities are exempt from the restrictions.
The police commissioner has warned that any violations of the order, especially in sensitive areas like the Secretariat, will be prosecuted under relevant penal provisions.
Hyderabad City Police have appealed for public cooperation in complying with these restrictions to ensure peace and order in the city.
