VHP spokesperson Sharad Sharma explained that Diwali will be observed on the night of October 31st as the Amavasya (new moon phase) falls on the 14th day of the fortnight (paksh) this year, beginning in the afternoon.
Sharma also clarified that Deepotsav, traditionally observed a day before Diwali, will be celebrated on October 30th, which also marks Hanuman Jayanti in Ayodhya.
This confirmation was echoed by Anil Mishra, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, further solidifying the date of Diwali as October 31st.
Diwali, a significant festival in Hinduism, marks the victory of good over evil and commemorates the return of Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana to Ayodhya after their 14-year exile and the defeat of Ravana.
