Vikravandi, Tamil Nadu: Actor Vijay’s newly formed political party, Tamil Nadu Vikravandi Kazhagam (TVK), held its first state-level conference today at Vikravandi V. Salai, drawing a massive crowd of supporters. The event saw a sea of supporters, with estimates reaching close to 2 lakh attendees. Vijay is expected to announce the party’s ideology, future goals, and plans for the 2026 elections.
The conference was marked by both excitement and tragedy. While the event saw an overwhelming display of support for Vijay’s political venture, a death and numerous health concerns cast a somber note. A supporter from Chennai, Charles, fainted and succumbed to his injuries at the event, despite receiving medical attention. Over 90 other attendees were admitted to hospitals for heat exhaustion. Tragically, two TVK officials from Trichy also lost their lives in a road accident earlier, while another supporter succumbed to injuries in another road accident in Chennai.
The event was a significant moment for Vijay’s political journey. Prominent figures from Tamil Nadu politics and the film industry expressed their support, including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, actor Jayam Ravi, and director Karthik Subbaraj.

Vijay, in his speech, took aim at the ruling DMK, criticizing its ‘Dravidian Model’ and highlighting the party’s alleged anti-people policies. He also emphasized the importance of Periyar, Anna, and Ambedkar, figures often cited by the DMK, showcasing his own approach to social justice.
The TVK’s official ideology, based on secularism and social justice, was unveiled at the conference. The party’s anthem, showcasing Vijay’s voice, was also released, further cementing his political stance.
