**New Delhi:** The late industrialist Ratan Tata, known for his philanthropic work and business acumen, has left behind a legacy that extends beyond his fortune. His will, estimated at over Rs 10,000 crore, allocates significant portions to family, staff, and charitable causes, but also includes a special provision for his cherished pet dog, Tito.

Tata’s will stipulates “unlimited care” for Tito, entrusting his longtime cook, Rajan Shaw, with the dog’s well-being. Tata adopted Tito six years ago following the loss of his previous dog, demonstrating his deep affection for animals and commitment to animal welfare. He was known for his advocacy for stray dog care and dedicated considerable time to finding homes for abandoned pets.

Beyond Tito, the will also outlines provisions for Tata’s close associates, including his brother Jimmy Tata, half-sisters Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, and his loyal staff. Notably, Tata’s longtime butler, Subbiah, who shared a special bond with Tata for over three decades, is specifically mentioned.

The will’s details have sparked interest in the fate of Tata’s properties, including his Colaba residence, Halekai house, owned by Ewart Investments, a subsidiary of Tata Sons. The future of this property and Tata’s Alibaug bungalow will be determined by Ewart.

N. Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, is expected to lead the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF). Meanwhile, Tata’s will also mentions his executive assistant, Shantanu Naidu, relinquishing his stake in Naidu’s venture, Goodfellows, and waiving a personal loan Naidu had taken for overseas education.

Tata’s will reflects not only his generosity and business acumen but also his deep love and care for animals and his dedicated staff. The “unlimited care” provision for Tito stands as a testament to his compassionate nature and commitment to the well-being of those close to him.
