**MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C.** – The College of Charleston Cougars defeated the Hofstra Pride 3-1 in a Coastal Athletic Association matchup at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point on Saturday.
The Pride, ranked 18th nationally, had their three-game unbeaten streak snapped, dropping their record to 10-4-2 overall and 4-3 in CAA play. Charleston, on the other hand, improved to 10-4-2 overall and 4-1-2 in conference play.
Despite dominating early play, Hofstra found themselves down 1-0 after just 10 minutes, as Leonardo D’Ambrosio sent a shot into the far post. Ryan Watson doubled the lead just over 10 minutes later, with assists from D’Ambrosio and Adil Iggoute.
Jacob Woznicki, scoring his eighth goal of the season, provided a spark for Hofstra in the 54th minute, converting a long pass from Teddy Baker. However, Iggoute restored the two-goal lead in the 73rd minute, effectively sealing the victory for Charleston.
Olly Marshall recorded five saves for the Cougars, while Filippo Dadone made five stops for Hofstra. Charleston held a slight advantage in shots, 16-13.
The Pride will look to bounce back against the University of Delaware on Saturday, November 2nd at 7pm.
