Sun Oct 27 08:39:40 UTC 2024: ## India Women Aim for Series Win Against New Zealand in Second ODI
**Ahmedabad, India:** India Women are looking to seal the series win against New Zealand Women in the second One Day International (ODI) match currently underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match began with New Zealand, led by Sophie Devine, winning the toss and electing to bat first.
The Kiwis will be hoping to level the series after losing the first ODI. Meanwhile, the Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur who returned after missing the first match due to injury, will be aiming to secure the series win.
The Indian bowlers faced early challenges as the New Zealand openers, Georgia Plimmer and Suzie Bates, found their stride. The first breakthrough came in the 15.2nd over when Deepti Sharma dismissed Plimmer for 41 runs. However, the Indian team swiftly secured their second wicket as Lauren Down was run out for just 3 runs.
A significant blow to the New Zealand innings came with the dismissal of their captain, Suzie Bates, for 58 runs, courtesy of a catch by Radha Yadav.
India continued to pile on the pressure, claiming their fourth wicket when Brook Halliday was bowled out by Priya Mishra for a meager 8 runs.
The Indian team is playing with the following line-up: Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Yastika Bhatia (wicketkeeper), Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Jemimah Rodrigues, Tejal Hasabnis, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Arundhati Reddy, Saika Thakur, and Priya Mishra.
New Zealand are fielding the following team: Suzie Bates, Georgia Plimmer, Lauren Down, Sophie Devine (captain), Brook Halliday, Maddy Green, Isabella Gaze (wicketkeeper), Jess Kerr, Lea Tahuhu, Eden Carson, and Fran Jonas.
This series comes after a disappointing loss for India against New Zealand in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 league stage. The Indian team will be looking to overcome the setback from that match and secure a convincing win in the ODI series.
